Add a Little Fall to your New Home

It’s time to kiss the summer weather goodbye and say hello to the brisk air and gorgeous colors of autumn.

If you’re looking to extend your porch-sitting season a bit longer or spice up your welcome mat for guests at your new home, keep reading for some fun, easy ideas to decorate your stoop, porch, or garden this fall.

Our New Community: Channahon – Historical Beginnings – “The Meeting of the Waters”

Channahon, Illinois is a village located in the Grundy and Will counties with a population of 12,700. It is located at the convergence of the Des Plaines and Kankakee rivers, where they form the Illinois River. The Illinois and Michigan Canal (including several locks) run through most of the village, where it is fed by the water of the DuPage River.

 

 

Originally, the Potawatomie Indians inhabited this area naming it Channanon which means “meeting of the waters”.

 

In 1962, the area was incorporated as the village of Channahon.  Major development began in the 1970’s as the village’s proximity to interstate highways resulted in industrial growth with numerous refineries and production plants.  The industrial growth was followed by many support businesses such as freight hauling companies and residential development.

 

Area Interests:

  • Channahon Park District offers an array of opportunities for recreation and self-development.
  • The Arrowhead Community Center offers racquetball courts, a fitness center and a pre-school program.
  • The Tomahawk Aquatic Center features a six-lane pool connected to a zero-depth edge pool and a spray/play area for small children, a sand volleyball court and a concession area.
  • Channahon State Park is a monument to the Illinois and Michigan Canal Locks and Dam and the head of the I & M Canal State Trail.  In addition to picturesque scenery, the park features bike and hiking trails, fishing and picnic areas.

At our sales office we handle everything from contract to closing. During the building period our homebuyers come in to select all the items we use when building their home, including siding, flooring, countertops, cabinets and more! While your home is under construction we have our superintendent walk you through your home twice. First is our pre-drywall walk, this is to walk through your home in order for you to see the framing, electric, and plumbing before dry wall is installed. Then your final walk happens a week before your home closes. This allows you to walk through your finished house and make sure everything is the way you wanted.
